About Us
This website offers translations and a side-by-side bilingual corpus of historical documents and articles from modern and contemporary Chinese history. The majority of these documents have been translated by graduate students from the University of Melbourne’s Master of Translation and Interpreting programme.
These translations are provided for study or research. We endeavour to find and translate texts that will be of use and interesting to English-speaking readers. Please make sure to cite the translator and website when using this material. If you are interested in publishing any of these texts, do get in touch, as we have updated versions of some texts offline.
The University of Melbourne’s Craig A. Smith (craig.smith1@unimelb.edu.au) is responsible for running this website in collaboration with Deng Jun from Shanghai Jiaotong University. Funding for the website was generously supplied by the Universitas 21 Researcher Resilience Fund, which supported the initial project, Remote Collaborative Translation: Modern Chinese Social and Political Thought, with the support of Nathan Woolley of the University of Glasgow and Nicholas Loubere of Lund University. Many thanks to Callum Smith for his work in creating this website!
