Mayor Obstructs Public Opinion |
阻隔舆情 |
People have been frequently complaining of the unjust torture inflicted upon victims of the wars and conflicts in Africa lately in Wollongong, New South Wales. As a result, many aldermen as well as merchants approached the mayor, the head of the city council, and earnestly requested him to convey their petition to the British court. They pleaded with him for a ceasefire to prevent further casualties, regardless of what means would be resorted to. However, purporting to be a “patriot”, the mayor not only rejected their plea but also angrily tore the petition into pieces, and was infuriated with the petitioners from start to finish. His remarks have stirred up an angry backlash from people of all ages, from the elderly to the youth, in Wollongong. |
